I went to Mumtaz restaurant in Regents Park, London on a Saturday night and I must comment that I was completely appalled. We waited two hours for our main course and when it finally did arrive it tasted like sawdust. We ordered chicken cutlets and Shami Kebabs for starters from a variety, which was very small indeed. The kebabs were awful and I would not recommend them to anyone. For our main course we were specifically told that we had to order two dishes per person, which seems very unreasonable to me as this just wastes food, as many people would not be able to eat two dishes. I did not for one. From a small (not very appealing) variety we chose a chicken dish, which tasted noxious. I was filled with a loathing unpleasant taste in my mouth afterwards. The restaurant is overly priced. The music was extremely loud; it was impossible for one to think. The waiters didnt know if they were coming or going. As for the management, they were extremely impolite and rude. The service was absolutely dreadful. I have never been to a restaurant, which is outstandingly bad in all ways. I would definitely not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Impeccable it is not. |

I wrote to you previously about Bel and the Dragon, on this occasion
I am writing to suggest a restaurant to visit as I had a fantastic meal
there Friday lunch time. The restaurant in question is 1492 which can
be found at Fulham Broadway. I had the raw salmon to start (Peruvian
Ceviche Tiradato) , it was easy to cut and was very tangy with the marinade
and some chillies (not to fiery) and some red onion. I then had the
Argentinean steak (Argentinean Churrasco with Chimichurri), I am a great
steak fan and I was not disappointed as the steak came solo and had
a sprinkling of sea salt on it and a pot of a parsley garnish. The meat
was very tender and tasty with the garnish setting it off perfectly.
The staff were very welcoming and service was prompt, the décor
has been kept simple but it is warm and inviting with a mix of wood
and leather. The meal cost £40 for the two of us comprising a
starter & main course and a fruit juice each. I enjoyed my meal,
as did my colleague, and should you get a chance I would suggest visiting
them. I will definitely be going back again but this time at night so
I can enjoy a glass or two of red wine. |

I think that your site is great, I like the honest reviews and the way you provide the information. I came across your site when searching for sites with information on Bel and the Dragon as the company I work for are redoing their web site. I have been fortunate enough to have eaten at the Cookham and Godalming restaurant, my family live in Maidenhead so Cookham was very convenient for us and with some now living in Eton I'll be trying out Windsor soon. I have to agree with you that the portions are very hearty, I enjoy the locations and the service received is friendly and they always make us feel welcome when we have my young nieces with us. If you ever fancy an unusual setting for a meal the Godalming restaurant is an old Methodist church, the large stained glass window is in place and on a sunny day makes the inside rather a colourful place to be. |

Why don't you add SILKA restaurant to your review and add it to your listing. It is probably the best newcomer Indian restaurant I have been after years. They have the best menu, best food and best atmosphere in London. Situated 6-8 Southwark Street, London Bridge, London SE1. Phone number 020 7378 6161 |

Great site. I think some sort of quick rating system would be nice (1 congo drum - 5 congo drums maybe). |

You haven't reviewed the following: 1789 French Restaurant, 9a Fairfield Road, Bow, London E3 2QA. Why? Great food, fantastic ambience, unique setting, in a quiet residential area, just off the very busy Bow Road. Prices range around the £50 mark for two people, including wine; this is the net cost. There is no cover or service charge. Actual breakdown is, food: any starter plus main course £16.95 and dessert is £3.95, coffee is £1.50 and wine starts at £8.95 for house wine. During the course of the meal customers are offered free postcards of the restaurant to send to anywhere in the world, postage being paid by the proprietor. Also, all customers are offered to have their photographs taken free of charge. |

Balans, Old Compton St - probably nearing my 100th visit. Absolutely love the place. Best visited at around 2:45 am before the 3:00 rush. the place is packed, and the martini set are out in force. Always a treat, though your estimation of prices a little low. the menu goes up at night by quite a jump. Worth every penny though!! |

I ate at Chives on Saturday night and it was
the worst dining experience I have had in London. The service was terrible,
more than half the menu was unavailable and the food was ordinary. |

If you still work in Smithfield check out the
Sutton Arms near Charterhouse Square. Well reviewed on egullet.com. |
